Description

Martin Lewis is best known for the dramatically lit views of New York City he executed in drypoint during the late 1920s and early 1930s. Like most printmakers, though, he was proficient in several mediums, including mezzotint, of which he produced a total of seven. Passing Storm, which depicts the skyscrapers of lower Manhattan as seen from New York Harbor, is the largest and is considered to be the most accomplished of the group.
