Description

In 1980, Carol Wax gave up a promising career as a professional musician to concentrate on printmaking. She was then well into her studies at the Pratt Graphics Center in New York City, and by the time she graduated, in 1982, she had decided to dedicate her career to the mezzotint process—and not only as a practitioner. Over the next eight years, she looked broadly and deeply into the history of the medium, and in 1990 published The Mezzotint: History and Technique, a book that still today is considered to be the most important study ever made on the subject.
