Description
Just like kenaf, jute, nettle, ramie and hemp - flax is a bast fiber. One of the oldest fibers used in Western civilization as the common flax plant was one of the first domesticated crops. Early Egyptian mummies were wrapped in linen fabric. Historically located in Western Europe, flax production today is centered in Russia, Poland and France.
