Private Worlds

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THESE PRIVATE WORLDS

A play on the historical idea of a collection of textile samples heralding a new season of must-have fashions, colors, and fabrics, this artist’s book explores our emotional attachment to and memories of specific dyed fabrics and well as the environmental consequences of the endless availability of new and disposable must-have clothing. The samples used in the color card at the top come from the artist’s own clothes and include (1) a vest, (2) a pair of jeans, (3) a pink tank, (4) hot weather dress, (5) apron, (6) wedding dress, (7) interview shirt, (8) blue tank, (9) sheets, (10) pajamas.
