Maiden's Blush

CHRISTIAN BARCLAY’S RECIPE FOR "MAIDEN’S BLUSH"

Boil 20 pounds of wool in a solution of 3 pounds of alum and a pint of nutritional yeast for 3 hours.
Rinse, then take a lipid of bran and put into a Scots gallon of water. Let boil.
Then put in the same solution two pounds of madder. The madder solution must be very hot, but do not let it boil.
After putting your cloth in the madder, rinse.
Then make another solution of half a peck of bran and a quart of urine, put in your cloth, boil it a while, then take it out and rinse.
