The blue women’s cocktail dress is made of a synesthetic blend faux linen in the skirt and lower bodice. The upper bodice has a scoop neck and short cap sleeves made of synthetic lace backed with a pale beige lining. The lace is composed of concentric interlocking circles with a starburst in the middle and scattered rhinestones. The shaping of the lace scoops under the bust line in a curve that is mirrored in a bias cut yoke in the front of the dress to create a fitted torso. The slim skirt is constructed with two darts under the seam of the yoke and the hem hits below the knee. The back of the dress has side back seams that resolve around the low hip in a dart, a centered blue plastic zipper finished with pick stitch on either side, and hook and eye at the top of the zipper. The label states, “Original Lilli Diamond of California,” and matches similar labels from the 1950s.
