Welcome

This digital catalogue is presented in connection with Drawing on a Legacy: Highlights from the John Driscoll American Drawings Collection, an exhibition that was on view at the Palmer Museum of Art beginning January 21, 2020. Though it was to remain on public view until June 7, the museum had to close its doors due to concerns over the growing coronavirus pandemic. The museum remains temporarily closed until further notice.

In the interim, we invite you to explore this virtual exhibition. Drawing on a Legacy is the first exhibition to showcase selections from a significant collection of 140 works on paper gifted by John Driscoll in 2018 that dramatically reshaped the museum's holding of American art. The "Introduction" provides an overview of the collection and donor. On the "Exhibition" page, you will find images of and information about each work of art in the show. The "Photo Gallery" features installation views as well as images from the opening reception and public programs.

We are deeply saddened to announce that John Driscoll died unexpectedly on April 10, 2020, from complications due to COVID-19. We mourn the passing of a generous donor, loyal champion, dear friend and mentor. This exhibition is dedicated to John's lasting legacy.
